In 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi as well as Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it was the top-streamed track during the course of six months. The mix of reggaeton with pop music did not just draw attention back to this genre but it also brought attention to Latin music as a whole. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs that were Spanish mostly, and four songs in the year 2016. In 2017, at the peak of the popularity of Despacito 19, 19 songs mostly in Spanish made it to the Top 100. In 2020, the number will increase to 41 songs within this genre. In the wake of Justin Bieber's dual remix Despacito (2017), a number of bilingual remixes Despacito (2017) well-known artists soon began collaborating with reggaeton musicians, such as Drake with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna together with Maluma on Medellin (2019). Certain reggaeton performers expressed their displeasure at the rise of mainstream music in 2020. But a new group, Rauw Alejandro, wanted to continue the growth and evolution of reggaeton. Rauw Alejandro incorporated elements of other genres and electronic music.
