April Ross
April Ross was one of just a handful of women beach volleyball athletes who earned medals at multiple Olympics. Alix Klineman is the newest Olympian who will be joining the team in Tokyo. Ross's goal is to win her first Olympic gold medal. It may well be that it is her last chance at winning, as she's 39 old. But she's confident top awards are within reach. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that If the team is performing very well, or even at all, it could be able to win gold. That's why I'm taking the chance as well. Ross was born on the 22, 1982, located in Costa Mesa California. She lived there together with her parents. Ross's athletic endeavors continued at Newport Harbor High School where she played in a variety of activities. As a pre-schooler, she competed in the indoor game of volleyball, as well as basketball and track. But she stood out in this sport. In her college profile, she played outside of the hitter, middle blocker, and setter throughout her volleyball time at high school. Thanks to her hard work, she was honored as the 1999 Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. Additionally, in 2000, she was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the Yr for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been doing what they do from 2017. However, Ross played a significant role in the world of beach volleyball prior to the pair. Actually Ross has won a number of important tournaments throughout her career together with two other partners. One of them is a legend. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years from 2007 until the year 2013. She also coached Klineman and herself. Ross, Kessy's fellow teammate who won the world title with Kessy in 2009, was also an important player on the world stage. At the 2012 Olympic Games, they won a gold medal. Misty Maytreanor's legendary team and Kerri Jennings won the gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she announced her retirement. In 2016, the duo took bronze at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross competed for USC Trojans in her college prior to becoming a professional. The Trojans had a great performance for Ross during her time at the college level. As a freshmen in 2000 Her performance was rewarded with the Pac-10 and NCAA the Freshman of the Year award. The Trojans had the chance to make it to the Final Four with her help. Her personal tragedy was a crushing loss in her sophomore season however she was able to return as an All-American. In her last two seasons in the program she led the Trojans to the top of the mountain netting successive national titles. In 2003-2004, she was named the top collegiate female volleyball player in America according to The Honda Sports Award. Ross, who was a USC international relations student was a renowned volleyball player. Unfortunately, Ross mother Margie was not able to witness Ross rise to the very top of beach volleyball fame. Ross's mother passed away from breast cancer while she was a sophomore in USC. This meant that Ross continues to be close to her parent who died. Margie is a beach lover as well as in her everyday life, is still a source of inspiration for her.
