Deepika Padukone
Deepika Padukone (pronounced [di:pIka p@dUko:ne or [pa:dUko]; born 5 January 1986) is an Indian actress that is mostly in Hindi films. It is among the top-paid actors in India, and her accolades include three Filmfare Awards. Time magazine also named her one of the top 100 individuals across the world in 2018. She was also awarded the TIME100 Impact Award for 2022. Padukone is the daughter of badminton star Prakash Padukone. She was raised in Bangalore and was born in Copenhagen. She played badminton at national championships while a teenager. She she gave up playing to become a model. Padukone soon got offers for film roles and was first seen in 2006 when she played Aishwarya, the main character in the Kannada movie, Aishwarya. Padukone later played the dual in the role of Shah Rukh Khan opposite her in Om Shanti Om (2007) which was her first Bollywood release. The film was awarded Padukone her the Filmfare Award Best Female Debut. Padukone was praised for her part as the lead character in Love Aaj Kal, but then suffered a short setback.
